I wrote a shell script that will take a dump of the entire db. I can share it if interested. If you have cron access u can set it up to run @ specific times.

EDIT: Ok so I'm bored and have no life. I have attached the shell file. You would replace the file /path/to/ with the path to where u would like to store the file and the [DBUSERNAME] [DBPASSWORD] [DBNAME] with your specific data.
Attached Files
File Type: txt backupscript.sh.txt (365 Bytes, 18 views)

HMM. I can do that as well. That is actually easier than the sql. Tomorrow when I have less alcohol in me I will write some code for that. As for the mysql back up I attached it to my previous post.

ccmods is on a distinguished road

Why not log into your shell and type:

zip backup * *.*

Will add all your files to backup.zip - Can be done with PHP by using Shell_Exec().

I will try to remember over the next few days to write an automated file backup. I completely forgot. PLUS. Don't ever use zip when you have tar and gzip available. Doing so is just wasting space for yourself.

You may want to ask your host to automatically backup your database every once in a while. I have my host backup my databases once a day, and that seems to be very effective when you need to restore things.

I have my own automated database backups now, thanks to LarryB...the thing I was still looking for was something the automatically back up my files, but it's not really a huge concern. That's not something that needs to be done very often, so I'm fine with doing it on my own, once a week or so is sufficient
