Some advice on IP's grabing bandwidth

I've been getting some strange IP's taking a load of bandwidth for the last month or so, i blocked the first 2 and it seemed ok. I checked yesterday and all was fine, come this morning and a certain IP has taken 1.38Gb????? what the hell 1.3 GIG ???? i mean i have no idea who this IP is, its on the same mask as the other 65.19.150.xx range.

I have cpanel and im only able to block 1 ip, is it possible some how to block the whole range 65.19.0.0 - 65.19.255.255 ??

Thanks

Mike

This problem existed on a buddy's forum, and he asked his host to investigate. It turned out that his forum had been hacked, and someone had placed a backdoor into his site, that allowed them to upload and store files.

I'm not saying this is your problem, but if they are pulling 1.38GB, then they are evidentally utilizing files on your server. Perhaps someone is hotlinking images on your site as well, and using them elsewhere on a high traffic site. I would suggest contacting your host for an examination of your stats, and files on your server (then can do a virus scan too, if they already do not do this on a regular basis). Additionally, you should take a look through your directories, and verify the files that exist where put there by you.
