|  Hacked...Again! Can't Beleive it, i got hacked again. This idiot pretended he was Bob and asked for his password to be a password he said, and i fell for it... i fell for his little trick.  He then deleted every member on my forum which was a big punch in the guts. I asked Bob on msn minutes after it and he said he didnt even ask for a password change, thats when i realised i got tricked. Bob then used the lat back-up made which was that last hack i encountered, a while ago. i want to know how to make back-ups, i saw a thread so im gonna go have a read. i almost thought of closing it down, but i thought again and i don't want to give up that easliy.   | ||||

| The latest upgrade wouldn't help at all. He was social engineered. You NEVER EVER EVER EVER change a password for someone. Thats why the forgot password link exists.

Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 36 | To backup manually go to phpmyadmin and go to the database via the drop down menu on the left hand corner. There will be a tab called export. Press export all and then press save as file near the bottom. Press go and download the backup. | ||||

| I've tried doing it through phpmyadmin and it's not reliable. I've did it several times and the backup has failed to open. I've also had this problem with backup's made in the AdminCP in both IPB and phpBB. The best way to do it is from the host CP manually or with the cron task mentioned in Larry's Tutorial for automatic backups.

| Ive never had to use one, Im just hoping i dont get the same error should i ever need to restoring it as i got with phpBB (Timeouts, had to use a program to split it up)

| Did you use the restore function in the Control Panel when you got the timeouts?? It can only hande very small files (I think it's 1 meg). Best to use phpmyadmin if your going to restore a whole database.
