Post [phpBB News] Londonvasion 2008

It gives me great pleasure to announce Londonvasion 2008, the first ever live phpBB conference. We are very excited to present you with this unique opportunity to meet fellow community members, as well as the phpBB team.

The conference will be held on Sunday July 20th in a hotel across the street from London Heathrow Airport (UK). Doors will open at 9:00 AM and the event will last throughout the day.

We welcome speakers and presentations on any phpBB related topic; please contact me if you are interested. A full list of planned discussions will be made available prior to the event. Please ask any questions in the following topic: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=859905. You may also contact me in private for confidential concerns.

Where is the event being held?
The conference will be held at the Radisson Edwardian Heathrow Hotel which is located directly across from London Heathrow Airport (LHR). There are around a dozen other hotels in the area, so you should have no problem finding a room if necessary.

If you plan on using the London Underground for transportation, the closest station also happens to be at LHR. Travel from the airport and Underground station to the hotel is available via a ?4 shuttle bus which runs every 15 minutes. The shuttle also stops at the other hotels located on Bath Rd and can therefore be used to travel between hotels - make sure to confirm this when booking. Alternatively, taxi fare from the airport is around ?7.

How do I register?
There will be a registration fee of £10 per person for the event. The strongly preferred method of payment is Paypal, however you may contact me to make alternate arrangements if absolutely necessary.

This is an unavoidable measure to prevent bogus bookings and the reselling of tickets, which is strictly prohibited. To further prevent "ticket scalping", each paid registration will have an id, name and email associated with it. If you are registering for someone else or for multiple individuals, please include the names and email addresses in the "Notes" section of the payment. To change any of the registration information, you will need to contact me.

All proceeds will be used to offset the cost of the event.

In order to give everyone an equal opportunity to register, several days are being made available for questions. An update (based on the questions asked) and the registration page URL will be posted here soon.

What should I bring?
Wifi will be available, so you are welcome to bring any portable internet capable device. Cameras (photo, video) will be allowed.

Due to the quantity of planned attendees, there is expected to be a deficit of sustenance. In other words, the hotel will not be able to accommodate the entire conference with food. We ask that everyone brings something for themselves and also something to share with others. This can include crisps (chips), drinks, extra sandwiches, etc.

Parking
On site parking is available for a fee of ?10 per day. This may be decreased depending on the amount of spaces available.

Advertising
Several methods of live advertising are available. If you are interested, please contact me for more information via any of the methods listed in my profile.

Updates
Details on how to register will be posted here soon.
