Yea, however, I don't see anything significant coming vBulletin's way. My point is there is so much more to go wrong and it is so easy for a new company to come in and screw things up than it is for them to take a company that is well established and improve on it even further.

Unless you are Google.

I'm being skeptical though. I can only see it being good if they lay back and don't try to interfere a lot with the way things work inside vBulletin. If, like you said, they just want to invest in it and leave the decision making to the people that have worked with the company since it was formed and know a thing or two about developing the software that has become the number one forum software on the net then I think they will be ok.

I think this will be a good thing for Jelsoft and vBulletin in general. In time we may see much more manpower under the developing hood, meaning more features quicker for us.

Although, things could backfire as well, but lets just hope that does not happen.

If they are working with IB to expand their support team, then the availability of support should increase and the support times decrease even further.

If they are simply calling upon IB for funding, then perhaps this will allow them to expand their employee base andfurther vBulletin and all future projects.

It could be either good or bad, time will tell and we shall all see what direction they take. Hopefully it will be for the best as I would hate to see anything happen to such a wonderful product and the great team at Jelsoft.

My main concern is that IB isn't really a software company... they were more focused on cars and real estate, I believe, before this purchase.

I wonder how long it will take for vB prices to skyrocket through the roof? Because with more development and more improvments means there will be a price hike within the next few months/years. I have a feeling that most people that are waiting for this to happen proibly won't have to wait long.

Now that the product tools are our and blog soon to fallow (if not out already) They might go the same rought IPB has with their 6 months of support and upgrades. if jelsoft dose this. then what are we going to do as customers seeing as vB IPB are the only profecional forum scripts out these days.

The release of project tools and the blog will have no effect on the price of vB because they are sold separately.

in all honisty you don't know that. thats like matt saying Invision board would "always be free" but you can see its not. correct? a compony head is allowed to do what they want to get more money. why do you think the products tools and blog were developed to begin with? its just a "what if" question.

Ummm...yes I do know that. Project tools and the Blog do not and will not increase the price of vBulletin. All of those are sold separately. If the price of vBulletin rises, it is not because of the blog or project tools...It's because Internet Brands and/or Jelsoft decided to raise the price for whatever reason.

To make more money, which is exactly why they are being sold separately at their own price.

Well as long as my current license works still and I won't have to pay an upgrade fee or anything I could honestly care less, I mean if they start changing things around for the worse I might be a bit mad, but its just business.
