I have always been impressed with vBulletin's dedication to customer support and the sense of community they have developed among their license holders.

The fact that Jelsoft has been ' acquired', does not leave me with a feeling of enthusiasm or overly optimistic regarding this development.

They had better be careful. You know the Internet community. Jelsoft inspires loyalty among its license holders because they treat us very well.
If some bean counter in head office decides to start bleeding the community for higher profit margins or charging a fee for access to v.org and all it's goodies; Jelsoft -new & improved! - is going to see a marked increase in unlicensed vBulletins springing up all over the web.

And just think how the hackers would react. Why provide freebies to the benefit of some indifferent and mercenary CEO's severence package?

People don't feel loyalty to faceless, greedporations. They do feel loyalty to a company like Jelsoft which treats its customers like gold.

I'll await further developments with anxiety and dread.
I guess only the Americans would understand what I mean when I say I don't want to see vBulletin Searsified like K-Mart. You know, a 15 percent markup on all inventory after the Parent company took over and an even lower level of dismal customer service.

B.

it sounds like a good idea that the purchase went through. I mean even vbulletin started making some serious changes in the community that didn't sit well with a lot of members. so it does happen. you cant please everyone.

Jelsoft joins the era of insane corporate greed

We are pleased to announce that Jelsoft Enterprises Limited has been acquired by Internet Brands, Inc., a leading provider of automotive, travel and home-related sites and...
Wow...I must be psychic; and what a shocker! The new corporate owner of Jelsoft raised the price of vBulletin. Who'd a thought huh? The leased license by 25%! The owned license by a mere 25 dollars. I just can't believe it.

And they wonder why so many people pirate their software.
