Deleting entire forum

Hi

I am currently trying to delete the content of my forum but as I need to keep some of the posts I would like to know which is the quickest way of doing this please?

I have tried deleting the individual forums in the hope that it would remove all the posts in that forum but it just times out. I have around 150,000 posts that need removing so any help would be much appreciated

OS Master will become famous soon enough

Are the posts you want to keep in a certain forum or are they scattered about?

I would suggest that you open the forum and select a page and delete those posts; it would take a while but you could check the posts easily and see which ones you want to keep. You could move those posts you want to keep into a special forum.

If you know you won't need posts from a specific forum, you could do some DB editing; make sure you backup first.

Once you have the posts you need backed up, and you want to delete everything, just delete the database in cPanel or phpMyAdmin.

Thanks for your advice but my host has kindly offered to move the posts for me as it was such a huge job and the database kept timing out. They have managed to remove posts from all but three forums so far and they have done it a lot quicker than I could have done

My guesses are they used SSH to make the database queries. You should too. Once you go SSH, you can't go back!
