Can you hack Vbulletin?

Was wondering if Vbulletin was able to be hacked? I have phpbb3 and have been told by someone that they hacked my forum and was able to read private forums etc...

Just how secure is Vbulletin?

Unless this person is really 1337, it's unlikely that he hacked you (unless your not running the latest version and he's just using a known exploit). It's more likely that he guessed a password or something stupid like that.

vBulletin is (supposedly) alot more secure than other software as it's closed source, thus any bugs aren't openly availalbe ot be read about in the source, or something like that.

Well he was able to read a forum that's blocked to guests and was able to get into my server.

Would love to upgrade to vbulletin but can't afford it right now, so that is why I am asking how secure it is.

yeah, that's not hard, I believe all you would have to do is change your user-agent to Google and you can view posts as guests. Don't know what you mean about getting into your server though...

He was able to see what files I had on my server. I have a private file and he found it

Again, there could be something irrelevant of phpbb as to why he found your files.

Yeah anything is vulnerable if they can get server access. That is a server security issue, independent of whatever software you are running.
