Error in SQL DB for forum. Are we S.O.L?

(Not sure if this goes here. If not, please move.)

Recently the host of our site performed maintenance. Our SQL database was deleted so we tried a backup. Here's the problem. My friend (and owner of the site) said an error came up when he tried to restore the site from a backup. I have attached the SQL file (he said it should be over 250MB, but ended up 1MB) to this post.

Are we SOL? Is there anything we can do? We had almost 4 years worth of posts, galleries, arcade games, etc.

From looking at that file, there is definitely no way you can restore your site from that as there is nothing in it besides an error. Do you have no older backups? Something must have gone wrong when that one was downloaded. Also, did you ask your host if they backed up? I'd be pretty pissed if my host deleted my site without backing it up.

Thank you Moelman. As far as I know there are no other backups. Also, Bluehost did not backup anything (said it wasn't their responsibility) and were the ones who deleted it during their maintenance. I spoke to my friend and we're coming up with ideas to start over. Many of our members are rather upset, but have also given their ideas and support.

That really sucks. While yeah it's not the host's responsibility to back up, stuff like this certainly does not reflect well on them when they delete a client's database that has years worth of posts on it and leave them with nothing. Hopefully some others can chime in with anything I may have overlooked but sounds like starting over is the only option. Hopefully if you have info for a lot of your members, it won't be too hard to get them all to come back.
