Database help

I recinetly got a 2.1.7 and i had data on it, but he fourm got deleted, but luckily it is saved in the sql database.

I am going to get IPB 1.3 and I wanted to know how to translate the databae so that it canwork with the 1.3 because 21..7 database in 1.3 won't work.

If you know how, can you let me know and PM me as well?

i don't think there is an automatic thing to downgrade the database..

why not just get 2.1.7 again? then it would be easier and you wouldn't have to worry about getting hacked (because 1.3 is probably not that safe

)

There's no script that I know of to revert to an older version. The only possibilities I can think of is convert from IPB 2.1 to phpbb and then use another converter to go from phpbb to ipb 1.3. If you don't lose some data along the way though I will eat a dead budgie.

well the 2.1.7 that I had was nulled which made it illegal. I would get a license but I don't find a need to pay a lot of money, just for a froum, but I may work something like that in the future.

As for Cult's idea, does anyone know how to do that?

even it wasnt nulled it would still be illegal if you didnt get it from IPS

Mega Mario, there is no such thing as a free IPB license. The only legal way to obtain a license is to purchase it directly from Invision Power Services.

Search google for ipb 2.1 to phpbb converter and phpbb to ipb 1.3 converter. Make sure you find the right versions though.

Make a back up before you do anything.

To Cult Zero: Would the idea be like a program or more like codes? jw I"m assuming codes but I wanted to check to maek sure.

Well one thing was I did know of a service, called stwebs. They had great hosting, sort of, and he had a way of having a hosting service so epople can have licenses for him to pay for it without him getting another license or him to pay for it as long as it was on his server.

it would be a self installer i think

It would be a PHP script that you upload to your host and run through your browser that modifies/converts your database to work with a different forum. I did a quick search and there is one that will convert from IPB2.1 to phpBB 2.something. I also think there is one that converts from phpbb to 1.3... if you see what I mean, you'd have to go through 2 conversions (eek). You'd have to make sure you match up your version numbers. Good luck!

p.s. I have never tried it and also... make sure you back up first.
