IPB 1.3

Is IPB 1.3 (A version made BEFORE IPB was made paid) Illegal to use?

Some say yes it is, Some say No.
Can anyone confirm the correct?

Do you mean is it legal to use a paid 1.3 board or a free 1.3 board?
iPBFree uses 1.3, I don't know about paying to use a 1.3 board.

Well, I am not going to pay for something that was free when it was realease

I think you can only use it if you obtained it during the period of time that it was free. Although if you find it floating around on some torrent site now and use it I doubt anyone can prove that you didn't get it back then. Not that I'm saying to do that...plus they tend to be hard to find....not that I've looked.

I do think there are some really bad bugs and security holes though so be careful if you find one and use it. (not that I'm saying you should because that would be illegal and you would get bad karma points) Don't want your forum hacked.

its only legal if you downloaded it from IPS when it was free its illegal if you download it from somewhere else

I mean, For all you know i could have had it sitting on my Hard Drive for a few year.

Even if somebody gave it to me now and installed it for me, I wouldn't get close to it because of all the security vulnerabilities.
