The only IPB forums I come accross recently are clan forums, mainly on the free IPB 1.3 though. I myself use vBulletin though for my clan.

wbutchart has a little shameless behaviour in the past

I think part of it is that IPB still has a bad rep for what happened a few years ago, a lot of forums have been around that long and perhaps thats part of what is making them opt for VB.

Personally i prefer VB its easy to use and im familiar with it, im not either of those things with IPB i just never see it around to use it.

I think that's a tad misleading unless you meant the vBulletin leased license.

It's not more expensive to use vBulletin for more than one year if you buy the owned license. With an owned license, you can continue to run vBulletin on your server indefinitely even if you don't pay the additional annual fee for support and upgrades. I'm from the UK so I pay around £15-17 annually for support and upgrades for each license I own, depending on the exchange rate, and I don't consider that to be expensive. Bear in mind, not everyone sees the need to upgrade, funnily enough.

The only way I would try IPB, is if a seo mod as good as vbseo was made

Hah, thanks Bama... yeh, my site is running InvisionBoard, and has been since it was still called Ikonboard.

I have no problems with it. But most of my "mods" aren't mods at all, they are custom apps that I've integrated in and around the forums, mainly with the database itself.

IPB stands up pretty well though. My server is handling around 200 queries/second and during peak hours 50 apache requests/second.

I've done a lot of SEO work on it though, so it's probably much better indexed and ranked than the average IPB is.

I just realised two of my favourite forums are IPB DTV Forum Australia (Powered by Invision Power Board) and Media Spy - Forums
