Fact of the matter is that there are no official patches and no official support for IPB 1.3, which is enough reason alone for me not to use it. Unofficial patches are not very attractive to me

Join Date: May 2006 Posts: 219 Location: UK | Aye, there are no official patches or support for 1.3 any more even if you buy a license. There are unofficial patches and while you may not like to rely on them it isn't correct to universally label IPB 1.3 boards as more insecure. Vulnerabilities still appear for current VB and IPB releases and there are plenty of people working on finding new ones to exploit. Side note; I would not recommend anyone who is not technically comfortable and not prepared to do some research to install IPB 1.3.
