IPB License Explanation 1.3, 1.3.1, 2.0, and 2.1

I Found this on another Site and I Don't Know if this has Been Posted Here Before But Here is Something About the IPB Boards
I'm Sure this Will Be Handy to Some Peoples

This document outlines the various license changes between IPB 1.3 and IPB 2.0.3

IPB 1.3.0

Invision Power Board 1.3(.0) was released under the very old license which allowed full use indefintely without a purchased license. You can use this version without support indefinitely but there are some well publicised security vulnerabilities which have been fixed in later versions.

IPB 1.3.1

Invision Power Board 1.3.1 was released under the old 'trial' license which allowed full use without a purchased license for evaluation purposes. Although no time limit was imposed for the evaluation period, it was accepted that permanent use requires a purchased license.

IPB 2.0.0

Invision Power Board 2.0.0 was released under the same license as IPB 1.3.1.

IPB 2.0.1 to IPB 2.1.0

These versions of Invision Power Board require a purchased license to run. An encoded trial version is available with hard-coded limits.

Remember, regardless of IPB version you are not allowed to redistribute part, or all of Invision Power Board.

Interesting. I'd always thought 1.3.1 was completely free and didn't require a license.

Good stuff, I'll move this over to the IPB section and sticky it...definitely a common question/concern among IPB users

No limit was set, no, however, as stated, it was understood that if you were to run your forums for the long run, then you would need to purchase a full license.

Also, no matter what you do with the license, the only way that you can use 1.3.1 or 2.0.0 legally is if you were to receive them directly from IPS ~2 years ago when they released them. If you receive it via any other means today, yesterday, or one year ago, you did so illegally (in the sense of IPS' policies).

If you did for some odd reason obtain the trial license 2 years ago when they released it, then it seems kind of strange that you would still be "trying it out", eh? 1.3.1 and 2.0.0 also contain security holes which are neither patched or supported...Something I wouldn't go near.

I don't want to make you go and waste your time looking but it's a bit of a sweeping statement. Can you list any security holes for 1.3 that haven't been unofficially patched?
