At one time you plagued my site with at least two bots, and when I went to ask you guys to stop (this was a while ago mind you) I was instantly banned, along with other people who complained. I was told to "suck it up" because "I can't control Craftess." Good luck though, I guess. ~Crystal

I am not sure what your account was but I'd like to know who exactly handled the affair. Saying something like "suck it up" doesn't sound like something I would do. However you must be aware that we do not have control of our users. I myself have gone to numerous forums complaining, due to members spamming my forum, but it doesn't solve anything. You also have to ask yourself, what is me going over there and complaining about it going to do? Complaining about a bucket of spilt water is not going to do anything. But don't take me the wrong way, I am not saying that your input wasn't valued, but remember there are many ways to prevent spam on your forum. Many of those being hacks you could install within a matter of minutes. Also I'd like to know who were these other people that complained.

Title: Apprentice Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 346 Location: Indiana ![]() | It wasn't you, if you go by Sorcerer on there. It was Atlantis (when you guys were Gaia Evolved) who told me to suck it up and "be mature," and then banned me. I WAS mature. I asked that they include in their rules or at least advise their members to read other boards' rules before spamming them with advertisements, as to not upset administrators. I complained on behalf of two boards, Mercury and Elibe Clan Wars, and I know a guy named Auron complained on behalf of GFX Fantasy. I know other admins have threatened to take down the site due to hacks that your site had on it at one time, and I know your site WAS reported because of that. How did they spam? They joined with the name of Craftess or some such name, posted the link several times, and left. When I complained and showed a link to the advertisements on your site, that person joined under a different name and posted very hateful things like porn or some such, something that was immediately deleted for obvious reasons. On top of that, Atlantis posted topic basically stating that any administrator who came to complain about your board's behavior and treatment of members should "shut the fuck up" or something along those lines. "Don't complain to us, we don't give a shit." That was pretty much the message he gave out. I understand you cannot control your members breaking rules on other forums, but when I visited, it was ADVOCATED. Atlantis and those other morons (yeah, sorry, but they were) harrassed administrators who complained and basically told their members that it was completely okay and ethical to not read a board's rules before spamming. I myself cannot tolerate that type of behavior, and I make sure my members understand that advertising is okay, but it's something you want to make sure is ALLOWED beforehand. Responding with "LOL GROW UP YOU LOSER I CANT CONTROL ADVER LOLZ" and banning someone and deleting their topic (therefore stating their opinion is not valid) is not the way to go about making your board known as a good community. It was obvious that Atlantis knew about the problem and knew WHO the problem was but refused to be a gentleman and talk to them about it. One of the other members on your board complained to me personally that your staff harrasses people about posting and referring people and that you don't actually care about the content that's posted or how much fun people are having. I don't think any real webmaster or forum owner here wants to be connected to a site like that. ~Crystal

The reason why that was posted by an administrator, was because it came to the point where users were trolling, posting porn, and sending death threats to users. That is not at all equivalent to posting several spam messages. Every board gets spammed. I don't recall ANY administrator posts asking people to "shut the fuck up" or "we don't give a shit." I would never EVER EVER let an announcement like that represent my forum. Quote:

A few rotten apples doesn't mean the whole tree is bad. Just like one or two members doesn't represent that the whole site is represented how you say it is. And mentioned in your previous posts you said yourself this was a long time ago.

Title: Apprentice Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 346 Location: Indiana ![]() | I never harrassed anyone on your forums. I came as myself, Crystal Shards, posted a short sweet message that stated I would appreciate my board not being spammed, and if you could include in your rules or at least make an announcement or sticky or something telling your members to follow each board's rules before advertising, and an administrator, Atlantis, told me that I needed to shut up, and he had that topic up. I did a quick search on your forums and it must have been deleted. But I know it was there. I read it and talked to Auron about it, and he was very upset because the same person spammed his site and he did not appreciate AT ALL how your staff members had treated me. If Auron mentioned the problem to someone else and they decided to harrass people, I don't know. But I know that Auron and I did not harrass anyone. And no, I'm not telling you which member it was, partially because my account was banned and deleted and I couldn't tell you anyway. It was via PM. And yes, you could say that, but you have no valid argument against Mercury. I however have several people I could have come here that have a member "craftess" or "adver" or some such that has been banned for advertisement, and evidence is left over from months past. There are probably members at your forums that post there now that would attest that someone called adver told them to join. I could pull up a search if you'd like. True, not all my members represent how Mercury is. But my administrators do. Your administrators treated those of us who complained in a nice manner like crap. I do not appreciate being banned for politely asking someone to help my board keep spam free. Administrators are supposed to set an example, and if they show they appreciate making the board look unfriendly, then that is the reputation you will receive. Having a "welcome message," as I look at it, that pretty much says if you're an administrator here to complain about how we treat people who complain or people spamming on your boards then shut up doesn't make you look friendly. It was NOT worded in an appropriate fashion, and I know I was extremely offended by it, and trust me, I'm not easily offended. Basically, if you start having masses of administrators come to your forum to complain (or do whatever they wanted to do to retaliate, which I don't agree with), you have a problem, and yes, it IS your problem. You have to show that you care about everyone else's boards just as much as you do your own. When I complained, I offered to give the administration the IP addresses of the spammers, but that was rejected by the obvious means of deleting my topic and my account, and by banning me. Quote:
I'm not saying your forum is bad now. I'm saying I would advise anyone from affiliating with this forum if it's anything like how it was. And you'd have to convince me that it's not, because I don't see how it would be any different with pretty much the same members from Gaia Evolved. ~Crystal
