Hello.

In case you don't know me, I'm Caitlyn. Me and two of my friends, Dave Nichols and Gary Lee, have just began a new community entitled caMiNation. caMi is iMac spelt backwards. As you can probably assume, the site is dedicated to all things iMac. We have our forums and gallery up, and are currently working on a main page design where we will have news, reviews, articles, etc. The website can be found at http://www.camination.com. I am posted this thread because we are in search of about 2 moderators. You may be wondering what the job entails. This is my next subject. The following is what I would expect of you as a moderator:

1. Threads that have not been posted in for 30 days or more should be locked and moved to the City Cemetary forum. Do not delete them unless they have no value or are threads that have been closed due to breaking of forum rules. The admins and I will then later go in and delete the old, old threads ourselves.

2. In order to be a moderator here, you need to be active in the forums you are moderating. That means at least once every other day you should be here making sure all is running well and always posting new topics to spark conversations.

3. Make sure that all members are abiding by the forum rules. If you notice them breaking the rules, warn them via PM. If it happens a second or third time, post about it in the Mod and Admin Chat forum and the admins will take care of consequences.

4. Refer, refer, refer! As a moderator here, you should want our community to grow and become popular so refer everyone you can. Friends, family, co-workers. Spread the word. Together we'll make this site a great success.

That's basically it. I think it would be a good idea to get the moderators we need now so that we can have a stable team from the very beginning. However, as we get larger, we will probably need more moderators. But as of now, we are looking for 2.

Best of luck with the new forums, Caitlyn! Unfortunately, you're doing something that I suggest avoiding...that is hiring moderators when you do not need them, eek

It is probably too late now, but before you hire any staff, you should always ask yourself if you really need them...afterall - what is there to moderate right now that you and your fellow admin cannot already handle? I think AF went an entire month with only myself...and ever since we have only had 1 other person helping out...

It's totally personal preference though, and it depends on how much time you have to monitor the forums as an admin...but I've just seen sour results before due to overstaffed forums.

Oh well, I've seen your forum work, and I'm sure you know what you are doing, so that said - best of luck finding those right 2 people, I'm sure they'll be great

some people hire moderators when there isnt two many people as it is likely that they will post or they will losse there moderator position

Thank you for applications. We have chosen two moderators. I would close this thread, but I don't have the permissions to. Anyway, thanks any interest. In the future, we may look for new staff, but for now, we are set.
