lol - we have been toying with an idea like this for a while. we started eCuffo as a directory and also planned something like this for a ranking system, etc. Not sure yet at all what we plan to do.

we own a bunch of similar domain names....

Thought I would update this thread with the new info. The Biggest Boards was launched a few weeks ago and hundreds of forums/message boards have submitted to be on the list.
Forums of all sizes are welcome to submit, whether you have 1 post or 10 million posts. Site is a SEO monster with each board on the list getting it's own profile page with multiple links, info, etc.

Can i suggest that like Big Boards, you have a minimum requirement for entry but not as big as Big Boards requires. For example, minimum of 10,000 posts, or alternatively the forum must be active for 3 months before entry, or maybe the forum may have a spam board but it must have a content to spam ratio of about 5:1 (not sure how u would gauge that, maybe a review by the approval team?)

Just my ideas, but any forum worth entry would achieve 100 members/10,000 posts/5:1 spam to content ratio.... within maybe 3 months or so if it was serious. It is far, far easier a goal to achieving a ranking than one like Big Boards where the minimum is half a million posts.

Other suggestions are that you have to carry a recipricle link to get on the forum listings, but to make it more than just a recip link, have the link display that forums current ranking on the big-board listings, similar to an Alexa Ranking. That way they can not only provide that recip link, but also wear it like a badge of pride showing how they are doing on the rankings against other forums in the world. This will also help provide backlinks and promotion of the directory by offering something useful to the forum it is on.

Just a few suggestions but havent a clue how you would do them

Reciprocals will never be mandatory. We don't like sites that do that when we submit so we don't make them do it for us. There will be badges for your site in the near future.

As for minimum requirements, it was thought about but we decided against it. We realize there are spam posts and newsgroups and feeds that may make up a lot of posts. We are working on a way to fight this and think we have a solution.
