Well, unfortunately, it's true - Big-Boards is very unreliable nowadays. The largest Message Boards and Forums on the web! is a site that I, and I'm sure many others, used to find very useful. It is a shame that it rarely gets updated anymore.

Surprisingly, however, there doesn't seem to be any other sites with the sole purpose of listing the biggest forum communities on the internet.

I think that this would be a great project to start; creating a Big-Boards alternative, that would be, of course, free, reliable, fast, detailed, and up-to-date.

What do you think? Would anyone be interested in building it with me? It could have a nice, glossy Web 2.0 theme, be very organized and categorized in many ways, and just mainly be a very useful tool for the administrator community as a whole.

(P.S. From the time of originally writing that I have come up with many GREAT ideas. This project that I hope to create either way will definitely have a listing of the biggest forums on the net, but in a very innovative way.)

I think it is a great idea, especially if you can figure out a way to create a script that people install on their forums that automatically updates posts on your ranking list (similar to how post fusion on this site automatically updates the list). The only problem with my thought would be people who scam the system and fabricate post counts.
Either way, I think it is a great idea. there are many big big forums that people dont realize are out there at all (like the sternfannetwork which has almost 11 million posts and has about 14-15,000 new posts a day)

Actually, one of my ideas would be to have the stats of the forum in the listing update as the forum is posted on without even refreshing the page. So boards like OffTopic.com would be sky rocketing constantly. I don't know how I would ever do this, but this project is not something I am going to rush.

I see Big Boards says they are backlogged for years in submissions, but you can pay $20 to get reviewed within 5 business days.

But why the biggest? Because i think people will agree that big boards does show the biggest but alot of the posts on it are spam posts? So why not the biggest but not spammy...
