First I would like to start off by saying this. I cannot spend money on advertising, maybe in the future, and it's not a forum, but a website. My website is for free online web graphics, and I need good ways to promote it.

Well, thats quite hard to do without splashing the cash on advertising. However you might want to consider doing text link exchanges and/or banner exchanges.

When you say you can not spend any cash, do you literally mean zero cash? The reason I ask is people who normally say that tend to believe that they need to outlay hundreds or thousands of dollars to effectively spend money promoting their site.

That need not be true at all. Of course there is a lot of guerilla marketing you can do when short on cash, just realize there are a lot of other ways to affordably promote your site for very little cash that will free your time up to work on the site and accomplish other objectives.

Purchasing one-way links or ad-links can be useful. If your site is the kind of site where you have built it for return visitors, that can have a real impact. Since this is focused on forums here I will go down that road, although your site is not a forum.

When you have a forum site, your goal is to get people in the door and become a part of the community. So every nickle, dime or dollar you spend to get people to come to your site and potentially join the community can be repaid to you many fold over down the road. That is why things like advertising, paid links, forum posting services and the like can reap benefits in the long-term for a new forum site.

So my question to you is, what is the goal of your site? Is it designed for visitors to come back again and again or is it just a traffic conversion page where your primary goal is to convert traffic from one source and feed it out to another one via advertising? How you approach things and what your goals are can really make a difference as to how you proceed.

Finally, if you really have NO money to spend, I would suggest you plan to build up a war fund, even if it is just $5.00 a week so you can use it for promotion in the future. Outside of that you can submit your site to many of the free directories out there. You can also look for sites in your niche that list relevant sites. Finally participate in relevant forums and share your expertise on the subject matter with a link in the signature. Most forum owners will not mind trading out good posts for a small signature link.

Finally, if you can come up with a free product, item, giveaway or tool, you can give it away in order to draw traffic to your site. Since your site is a free web graphics site that is good news. However, that will not be enough. Perhaps you could put together an E-Book that explains step-by-step how someone could use those free graphics to help build a web page or spruce up an existing site. Then you can publish that on your site, and set it up so people have to visit your site to get the free e-book.

Then you can promote that free resource, and people will end up visiting the rest of your site.

I would consider link/banner or affiliate exchanging, or join paid to post forums if you have the time for it. usually its not really worth it, but it could be something to fall back on if all else fails.

just do the general stuff like your sig, your current sig here is perfect and stands out, i notice everytime you update it. If you were active and you did that on relating forums i am sure you will get visitors as they will start to get curious.

What i would do, when you first earn your money buy a domain, presumably .com its a lot more attractive and looks more pro.

Also, submit to a few directories if ya have spare time, it could'nt hurt and it may pay off.
