I think that as long as the people (fans) continue to pay the ticket prices and merchandise, all the power to them...We're the ones giving them the money

Do you go to pro sports games? If so, how much do YOU pay?

Although they are just playing, if you think about it from another angle, they are providing entertainment. You might be able to compare the amount they make against the amount individuals are paid in other forms of entertainment.

I don't know. There are always two sides to every story. I would definitely agree that players are getting more than enough. Some of the contracts do sound a bit ridiculous. On the other hand, if revenues are increasing, multiplying three and four times over(just a random scenerio, don't know if thats ever the case), and all the money is going to the boss, I could understand them being a little upset.

RANT AHEAD!

Really? As a business owner I take exception to that!

Think about where you work, you’re making money; the boss is making more money, so what? It’s his business and he can do what it wants. You agreed to work for him at the wage he offered you, if you don’t like it you go somewhere else, same with sports, its business!!

RANT OVER!

Okay, My biggest “beef” with sports and what is ruining it is the big contracts but guaranteed contracts these are paid even if the player gets injured or cut from the team. The other thing is no salary cap in Baseball. If you look at the history of the past 10 years or so, the highest payroll in the league is always at the top. Now look at the NFL and the NBA, which have a salary cap, almost every year there is different teams at the top.

This is true. I wasn't referringing to the boss making more money than the employees(that's only expected). If an employee is performing exceptionally well, and the company is making xx% profits above what expected because of the employees efforts, it seems like it would make the most sense for both the employees and the boss get some kind of benefit. I'd expect the boss to get the biggest benefit since he/she is the boss though. That's usually how I've seen it done with a lot of private companies whether it be through a pay raise or a bonus. Guess we might just have to agree to disagree on this one .

Normally you would be right. However, take the New York Yankees for example. The highest payroll in Major League Baseball. Yet they didn't win last year or the year before. As a matter of fact, they haven't won since 2000. While that isn't that long ago, for them to have such a high payroll, one would expect them to win with their talent.

I just wanted to point out that example even though the majority of the time, the team with the money usually does win.
