Computer Class: Finding a Good Stock for the Stockmarket

In Computer class for the 8th grade, we are assigned to do a stock market game to try to buy good stocks of companies and win the gamne out of all the partners grouped up in schools all across the state I live in.

The thing is though, I bought Pepsico (PEP) and Toyota ™ and they were really good, but the stocks went down making my partner and me down to 60th place. I couldn't really find really awseome high ranking ones. Can anyone recommend any good companies to try looking up.

And for those of you who have no idea waht I am talking about, you have seen them before. In fact, for those of you that use aol instant messenger (AIM), you may of seen that bar where you see these intiials with an arrow and numbers and you have no idea wtf it is. That is what I am referring to.

Look it up on wikipedia.

I'm doing the exact same thing! If you want to cheat, look at a stock when the market is closed on finance.yahoo.com (works best WAY after hours). You can buy a stock at its closing price, but you can anticipate its opening price. Hard to explain... but if you see a stock go up a ton after hours, buy it.

If you don't want to cheat, watch Mad Money. It's on MSNBC at 6PM EST. If you can't, Google for "Jim Cramer" and you'll get good stuff.

The absolute key way to win in the stock game is to pay attention to the news. If there is news that supports a certain company or region of companies, that's the time to buy. It takes practice to really understand how stocks work.

Oh, if you can buy stocks before the market opens tomorrow, I would invest in Mastercard (MA). It's due to skyrocket.

P.S. I plan on making a website/blog on stock trading in the future.

I shall take a look on the show since my teacher has that on during class every day or something close to it.

and I will keep an eye on MA. Does anyone know of any other stocks I can try out right now?

VRAZ is a brand new stock, so new you can't even buy it yet. No promises, but as soon as it officially comes out, it's a highly recommended buy.
