Norton Internet Security 2006

Has anyone else installed Norton Internet Security 2006 and had an issue with MS Outlook sending & receiving?

I've used Norton products for years and never had an issue, however, I had to use the removal tool available through Symantec's website to even remove NIS 2006.

Just curious if anyone else had issues with an Norton products in the past. I had to switch over to a free-based solution (AVG) due to the problems it caused.

I hate Norton and Maffee. I switched to AVG about 3 years ago and have never looked back.

Eurgh... Norton. I think the best software they've written is the Norton Removal Tool

I use Avast - it's free, doesn't hog the resources and I've found that it usually picks up more viruses than AVG [maybe the new version has improved this, though].

Norton has been proven to generate false virus reports to make you buy a subscription and isn't that good at detecting viruses. I won't even mention how slow it can make many machines [whoops, I just did].

You're usually much better off with a free solution like Avast or AVG.

Not that I am aware of, there was an update just recently available at download.com which is what brought me to AVG in the first place.

I just had to replace the hard drive on my laptop after it died and AVG was the first to be installed after the windows xp updates.
