Question PC Shops?

Hi---

I am wondering which shop (online or offline) members got their computer equipment at?

There are so many choices out there, from which to choose from. Best Buy, Dell, Apple, Gateway, Walmart, Micro Center, etc....which is your personal fave and why?

http://www.ebay.com

Yep, that's the place to do it at. You can find brand new laptops on eBay for much cheaper than you will in any store, even online stores for that matter. Warranty info is not always as nice or easy to deal with regarding online purchases, but hey, I bought a used laptop from eBay 2 years ago. It's still running strong, and I use it ALL the time. It's the one I am using right now and the one I always use. Saved myself 500-600 bucks on it thanks to eBay.

If you do buy one off of eBay, be sure to take special note of seller's feedback as well as the return and warranty policies.

Another site that is a must is PriceGrabber. They don't specifically sell the products but they list the companies that do. It's great for finding stuff that would cost you much more if you went to a local store like Best Buy.

ebay? interesting fave for pc purchases. i wonder how many others use ebay as their go to shop for this. hmmmm.

my brother is looking to get a 2nd laptop for his office and i recommended staples, i found they have a compaq presario on sale this week for like less than $650. i checked like 10 different online shops and this was one of the better deals i found.

but, i will check ebay out and see what i find.

You may also want to check out a site called SlickDeals. Every once in a while they will post a link to a special that Dell is running. Other PC companies do the same too. When this happens a significant discount is listed for brand new laptops for sale. I have purchased many items by viewing that site first.

Right, I meant to mention that earlier as well. Dell runs these amazing deals every now and then...I wanna say it's either $600 or $800 off any computer over $1500. They dont do it often, probably every few months, but if they do it, you are sure to find out at SlickDeals and FatWallet

I'm not a huge fan of Dells, but you cant beat the prices they offer when they run those promotions

yes....im very familiar with slickdeals and i love them, my own site is modeled after it.

i am just wondering where is it that people shop at for their pc stuff and why they pick the stores they do.

i have heard of and use pricegrabber quite a bit, but for items needed like yesterday, a B&M shop will only do.

Ah, so you're looking specifically for brick and mortar stores...honestly, I don't have a ton of experience buying computers there. I have shopped for them before, but never went through with a purchase. You always have the best buys and the circuit city's, but these are going to by pricey. You'll get a quality product with a nice warranty (if you pay).

Then you have the small shops, where you are going to find people who are more knowledgeable on the computers as well as a better price (typically)...Take a look in the yellow pages to find these places. There are a lot of them you'd never know about...talking about places in office complexes (suites and what not)

Ah' yes, the local stores... I do go to Best Buy often but only when I know what I want beforehand. Asking anyone there for assistance usually does not produce quality results. I've also found that stores like Micro 3000 or Computer Builders Warehouse (specifically computer stores) are higher priced than places like Best Buy/Circuit City.

Don't be afraid to go to Office Depot or even Home Depot for that matter. At Home Depot you can get network cabling, connectors and even routers. No computers though.
