Somebody else did the same exact thing...I believe it was awibble, but I'm not sure. I really like the idea behind that, but I know myself that I would be WAY too lazy to create a new email account for each forum I join. I'd much rather just register with my spam email account and if I decide I like/trust the forums, I'll switch over my email at a later time.

The spam email account I use for forums actually doesn't receive much spam since I only use it for forums (not when I sign up for stuff or buy stuff) so I do still check it from time to time.

They are not seperate email accounts, just forwarders. They all forward emails to my real email account. Doesn't take more then 30 seconds for me to set them up in cPanel.

So you never actually set up the email account, all you do is set up a forwarder from a non-existing address to your personal account?

I wasn't aware that could even be done...I was under the impression that you were actually creating the email accounts with a password and then setting up the forward...

I have done the same thing Seraph and it works great. There have been times I've forgotten though or was lazy and didn't want to login into cPanel. But, when I have done that, it works great.

No, I have myemail@mydomain.com which is a real email account. I set up forwarders like adminfusion@mydomain.com which gets routed to myemail@mydomain.com I have about 100+ on my main domain that is set up. If I start to get spam I just delete the forwarder and no more spam. My personal email account I give out to friends is also a forwarder like personalemail@mydomain.com which gets routed to myrealemail@mydomain.com

Off topic: I had a catch all (Meaning anything @ mydomain.com gets catched to an email account) account set up by mistake and look what I got...

Took a few hours to download and delete them all.

Most programs like this will automatically authorize the person based on the fact that they replied to that permission message. ChoiceMail however leaves it up to the person using the program if they want to accept or deny someone. I personally don't have that particular feature turned on. I didn't want family and friends getting strange messages about submitting further info just to e-mail me. However, every message I receive that is from someone that I don't know I have to decide where they go.
And if a spammer puts YOUR email in the From field and uses it in a spam run youll be spamming many people. I know me and many others will report that as spam.... Stay away from this type of "anti-spam" system since it spams too.

This system does not send out spam. That couldn't be further from the truth. ChoiceMail only sends out a permission request e-mail if that feature is turned on. And even so, only legitimate people (not spam sending servers) can respond to such a message. So if you got one of those messages from me, it's because you e-mailed me. I've been using ChoiceMail One for nearly three years and I still stand behind this product. It has blocked countless amounts of spam from getting to my inbox. Not once has it sent out spam nor have I been the subject of being considered a spammer due to this system. Maybe this is the case with other products but not with the one I use.

Whether you are using ChoiceMail or not, that can happen to anyone. Any type of filtering can cause a permission request e-mail to be sent - even to the wrong person. However, it all depends on how the system is setup. As I said in the past, I don't have that feature turned on. Even if I did (which at one time I did), I never ran into any problems. If you receive a permission request e-mail from ChoiceMail and you never sent the original e-mail, then you shouldn't respond. It certainly isn't a spam message so getting that address blocked won't stop the real spammer from using your e-mail address in the from field.

Yes it would be spam since I never requested the email to be sent. Spamcop.net allows reporting of said emails. They also allow you to report mis-directed error emails. Say if you bounce an email because the email address doesnt exist and you bounce it to the "faked" from email....

Also spam: you bounce an email with a virus in it, if it gets sent back to the fake from email, its spam...
