Im having a rant so shut up !!! lol

Ok, for those of you who dont know me, read my other posts on here cos im not tell you anything.

I come up with all these wonderful sounds ideas and plans for forums, untill i post them someplace and they get the shizzle ripped out of them faster than a speeding bullet.

I cant seem to stick with one forum and im always making new ones just for something to do cos im inpatient.

I keep getting told to make a forum about something i like or enjoy. if your gonna tell me that, do youself a favour and dont say anything.

I want to create a forum and actually stick with it, i wanna make a forum about something exciting and something i dont know much about, so i can learn something form my forum when all my members chat and discuss the niche.

iv tried to stop the forum making crap but its something for me to do, the excitement of actually making a forum is great but when it comes to making it run smoothly and such i get bored with it and never tough it again.

Everyone tells me i should pay for VB and hosting. How am i ment to do that when im always skint? you gonna give me the money to do that? didnt think so, so just shutup.

I wouldnt be surprised if this post gets deleted but hey its life and its a *****.

Oh well iv said all i came to say and dont know what to do now so ill shut up.

Thanks for reading

Jake

Hi Jake, it's going to be very hard to give you advice under those conditions. You are impatient, and don't want to do something you already like or enjoy while while we have no idea what you "don't know much about" so that you can learn enough. It sounds like YOU have to pick something you want to know more about. Then you have to decide if owning a forum is really for you since it will take a lot of time and patience.

I would recommend other software, but I'm biased. As for cost: stay tuned for a chance to win a free lifetime license soon.

Maybe your destiny lies elsewhere in regard to forums and websites, but only you know if you can embrace long-term goals and be turned on enough to do it. Any subject matter you come up with will still drag you through the rough stages of building a forum. It can take years before you have decent traffic (not paid posting or exchanges) and the thing carrying you through is the burning desire to carry out some vision of a forum site.

Only you can get that vision or know if it is really something you were cut out for. Good luck.

- Frank

Jake, ppl suggest you make a forum about something you enjoy because you need to always have something to talk about.
This is what generates conversation and member loyalty to the forum. If you want to make a forum about something you don't know, that's fine.. Just make sure it's something you are truly passionate about for the same reason.. You'll always want something to talk about, or holding a strong opinion about subject that other members post

vBulletin is the best imo, and it's a small price to pay to me for what you get, but I started off using phpbb2. It's a free forum script, and when I started, I paid less then 10$ a month for hosting and had a dozen sites on it. With a new forum, you could get hosting for less then 5$ a month or you can always go the free hosting/forum route like forumer.com

I guess that's all I have
cheers
-Brandon
