I had changed the name servers for one of my site about 8 hrs ago but it has not been updated yet... can anybody help me so that i can see the site on the new host and work on it because i cant wait for another 24 hours because i want to work on my site.. i know there is a way but i am not sure how it can be done... its done some how by hacking windows file... please help me  | ||||

Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 43 Location: UK | Click Start. Click Run. Type in "cmd" without the quotes. Type in: "ipconfig /flushdns" again, without the quotes. Click the X to close cmd. That should be done! You may have to be logged in as an Admin Account to do this, not sure. | ||||

| I wouldn't, the problem isn't your machine. It's ALL the DNS servers around the world that take so long to update. All you can do is wait.

| What site are you trying to access now icare? Didn't I help you set it up so you could access your site last nite? The steps for overriding dns is as follows on windows machines. 1. Open C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc 2. Open the file named "hosts" with notepad or word pad 3. Add an additional line to the file. 4. On that additional line type the ip of the site you are trying to access, hit your tab key, then type the domain with or with out the www of the site you are trying to access. This overrides any dns lookup. You also have to access the site the exact same way that you type the domain in ur hosts file.

I know the steps you told but the thing is i dont know which ip to put. yesterday you gave me the ip of other site which is working fine. now this new site i am trying to host on godaddy. so i have no idea which ip to use? | ||||
