MySpace Resource Sites

Hi,

So as I was doing my usual rounds of forums I noticed a thread about a sale of a myspace site that was earning $1,000+ revenue.

I knew the owner and talked to him about the sale, he ended up selling the site for $20,000+. Now here comes the twist, he had it up for 11 days and hardly worked on it

Are MySpace resource sites all the thing these days? Lots of them are coming from no where to earn a quick buck and a quick buck they are earning.

Maybe I should start one

Nah I can't provide a link, but it wasn't very populated with tools but still managed to recieve over 100,000 uniques daily for those 11 days. He had to purchase 2 servers to manage the load

Oh, you mean a myspace support website,... that he sold..., not that he sold his MySpace account!

Where are those V8's when you need them!

It is big! I'm working with a friend to get one up and running real soon. I decided to pursue it when I discovered that after a couple discussions, at DnLodge, about them it quickly got to the point that most of the search terms used to find DNL contained the words "myspace" and "layout" or "layouts".

Just be warned, you want to avoid putting the word "myspace" in the domain because Myspace just went after a bunch of websites for trademark issues recently. So I had to park "TheMyspacePlace.com" and buy the domain "LayoutThis.com"

Well, would it still be brandable if the website was NOT ABOUT myspace?

For instance: www.movedintomyspace.com for a Realtor website?

AmySpacey.com for a girl named amy spacey.

creamyspace.net for an icescream shop.

tommyspacedout.ws for some guy named tommy who did whacky stuff.

you get my point... would those stand up in court?

Nah, I think they are just coming down on the sites that use the words "MySpace" together and that obviously have a site that is meant to profit or benefit, in some way, from Myspace.com.

I don't think they can stop a person from offering myspace layouts and graphics as long as they don't have the words "my" and "space" together in the domain. I don't know how they could stop someone who had a domain like mydecoratedspace.com (as an example) as long as the words aren't together in the domain or the site is obviously serving a whole different purpose, like your example of amyspacey.com

Those would be okay since "my space" could be used generically. AmySpacey doesn't violate any trademarks at all.
