Trucks

So I was out the other day looking at new trucks since my car is wrecked. I am thinking a small to midsize pickup truck. I was wondering if anyone here has any opinions on what pickup truck to get. The three I'm looking at right now are:
  • Ford F150
  • Ford Ranger
  • Dodge Dakota

The Ford Ranger seems a bit small but doable. No tow bar, which really helped the last car. Dodge Dakota is medium size and seems really nice. Ford F150 is a big truck, not sure if I want something that big? I'm looking for this in a truck:
  • Tow Package is a Plus
  • V6 Engine
  • 4x2 or 4x4
  • Automatic Drive
  • Supercab, medium seating in the back.
  • 4 doors are a plus, hidden doors for the rear
  • Used is fine
  • 1996-2007 model
  • Under $15,000

I don't need brand new, it's a waste of money.

I own a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT. I can't drive a car because it is too low for me when I get out. The one thing I have complained about since I bought it was there was no room for friends or family. (no ext cab)

Other than that, it has been great driving that little thing everywhere. It has a v6 4 liter engine, but is only a half ton pickup. Six weeks ago I needed a TON of grass for my yard and had to make two trips. If you do get something like this, try the arrow-head model. I didn't. I was anxious and couldn't wait the 2 weeks for shipment to the dealer, so I just got one off the lot. Now I wish I had.

Thanks for the information, what is a Arrow Head model? I want a smaller truck, but the downside is no tow package which helps in rear ends and it only carries two people.

The arrow head model is cool looking. It has extra (fog?) lights under the front bumper, along with two eye rings for towing. (backwards?) The standard tires are more rugged, deep grooved, and I believe it is a 4x4 Manual trans.

But this was 6 years ago.

Thanks, never heard of it. I went to a new Ford dealership to look at new ones as well as used and they gave me a booklet on the F-150s and the Rangers, I didn't see Arrowhead in there.

The Dakota is mid-size, that was another truck I was looking at. One of dealerships I went to had a Ranger, Dakota and F-150 all next to eachother. I liked the Dakota better then the ranger size wise.

My mom has the same year Ranger as my Dakota and she has nothing but problems with it, I not saying you will too. My Dakota has twice the milage as my Mom's and I have never had a problem.

I agree, I love the look of the Dakota, has a great roomy interior and rides very smooth. The v6 seems like a 8, she's little put has plenty of power.

The one I looked at had half seats, padding on the bottom and back as an extended cab. Do they make them with "real" seats that is an extended cab, but not a full sized cab?
