Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 220  | Lame-assed hackers making me look like the bad guy... Why was my board down today? Hackers! Yes that's right! Here's what's happened. The link I had to 'downloads'? Well there was nothing much there so I ignored it really. However the plugin to vbulletin that was running was buggy, and just now I found there was a patch released last month that I missed. Well they obviously used their access via the download manager to almost crash the shared server. (that is bad!) The webhosts suspended the account thinking I was running some rogue script or other, which to all intents and purposes I was. I assured them I wasn't and so we're back. However they noticed an mp3 that shouldn't have been uploaded, which I promised to delete and did. In doing so and browsing the directory, I found there was a hacker 'calling card' or sort and email. Bastards! Well I'm exonerated and no longer 'the guy who's going to crash the server' I hope now. I hope the webhosts have fun catching the people responsible The download manager was ecDownloads which wasn't quite up to date. I got my site unsuspended now, however I'm hoping my reputation will be cleared   | ||||
