I think its the status quo NOW. If I apply for a job and the company has no website, or it's poorly constructed, I am less likley to apply or set an interview.

For personal communication, while opening previously closed avenues, it has made me more anti social. I'll IM with people but won't call them. Will send an email but won't go visit. The internet has both sharpened and dulled us as a human race.

I remember when Online Dating used to be a cool new way to meet people. Now that everyone is caught on, I am more likely to meet a spazfest of nasty gross men looking for a clandestine hookup than I am a genuinely nice man who doesn't want to meet women in bars.

I think its here to stay. Whether that's good or bad is anyone's guess, and is dependent upon how you look at it, IMO.

Good post Miss Moke

I totally agree with the statement above. Being a student for the past 5 years i have had the pleasure of having a long summer 'off' and that's when i've been online the most and only venture out to take the girls to the swimming baths, cinema, shopping etc or to bbq When i return to uni after this spell it's quite a culture shock giving presentations, leading seminars and the like. Although i'm constantly communicating online with friends, my editor, staff, co-admins, sponsors etc the 'real world' is quite tough to get back into the swing of.

This Makes me wonder what 'real' interactions will become in the future when the internet advances and perhaps 90% of retail, jobs and interactions are done by this medium.. imo this is inevitable and will seriously effect society.

Many times a friend has called round or rang and i've caught myself wishing they were hooked up to the net instead (mainly so i can multi task whilst spending 'time' with them) .. but jeez... what a thing to think!

Miss Mokes is very right. With the positives came the negatives. America especially, already more of an impersonal nation, is becoming more so year by year. I can't say much bad about the internet though. It is new age communication and learning at it's best. I also make my living online, so I don't want it to go away.
