Microsoft To Relaunch MSN Spaces Under Windows Live

Microsoft Corp. plans to revamp its blogging service MSN Spaces under the new Windows Live brand in the summer.

The upcoming "more powerful version of MSN Spaces," called Windows Live Spaces, was announced on the Spaces homepage.

The company said it would unveil the new version in the summer, and also posted a help wanted ad. Microsoft is looking for developers in AJAX and DHTML, technologies used in developing interactive user interfaces for Web applications.

Among its other Live services projects underdevelopment is a Windows Live Shopping site, which would either replace or be in addition to Microsoft's MSN Shopping site on its MSN entertainment portal.

Currently, all that's available for Windows Live Shopping is a homepage announcing that a beta version is "coming soon." Also linked to the page is a help-wanted ad.

Live is the brand name for the Redmond, Wash., company's Web services initiative. Microsoft has said that it plans to eventually offer all its software as service over the Internet.
