What are Your Computer Specifications?

Yes, I know we've had threads like this before, but those were months ago, and computers change quickly!

I now have three computers.

#1:
733MHz Intel Pentium 3
256 MB RAM
16 GB hard drive - 2GB NTFS and 14GB NTFS partitions which run Windows XP Pro
Another 16 GB hard drive - partitions are 9.5GB FAT32, 512MB Linux swap, and 10GB EXT3 (Debian Linux runs off the EXT3 and the FAT32 partition is used to share files between Linux and Windows)
CD-RW Drive (up to 8x write)
PS/2 Mouse/Keyboard
Ethernet NIC
2 USB 1.1 ports
1 serial and 1 parallel port
1 MIDI/game port
1 floppy drive

Parallel Port Printer
14" LCD monitor (up to 1024x768x16777216)

#2:
2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4
512MB RAM
80 GB hard drive (partitions are 256MB FAT "Dell Recovery" partition, 75 GB NTFS [runs Windows XP Home], and a 5 GB EXT2 partition running Debian Linux, formerly a "Dell Utilities" partition formatted with FAT32)
2 CD-RW drives (up to 48x write)
PS/2 Mouse/Keyboard
Integrated Ethernet
6 USB 2.0 ports (4 back, 2 front)
1 serial and 1 parallel port
3 FireWire ports (on a PCI card)
56K modem (rarely used)
USB Printer/Scanner
14" CRT monitor (up to 1280x1024x16777216)

#3:
3.0 GHz AMD Athlon 64
1GB RAM
200GB hard drive (with Windows XP Home on an NTFS partition)
DVD+/-RW drive (with Ultra Speed CD-RW and DVD+R DL support)
PS/2 Mouse/Keyboard
Integrated Ethernet
7 USB 2.0 ports (4 back, 3 front)
1 serial and 1 parallel port
1 integrated FireWire port
56K modem (rarely used)

That's a good question. It's been a long time since I have compared AMD and Intel processors. I mainly use and always prefer AMD processors so I don't tend to look to far into Intel processors. However, my best guess would be that the AMD Athlon 64 3400+ processor is similar to an Intel Pentium 4 (near) 3GHz processor. But remember, there are several factors that come into play in regards to speed, performance, etc.

Upon searching Google, I found a good site that shows more detail for what you are looking for. I'm sure once you check this site out, you should know which is better based on several categories.

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ compared to other top processors from Intel and AMD

My normal computer is a P4, 2.4 Ghz with a 120 GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM. I also have a 1.8 Ghz Celeron with 256MB of RAM and a 40 GB hard drive and a 1.2 Ghz Athlon with 192MB of RAM with a 40 GB hard drive. I also have a spare 250GB hard drive for backups, two 20GB hard drives and a couple of smaller hard drives plus some extra RAM in case it's needed. At one point in time I had a wireless LAN at home until I realized it was stupid considering I was the only internet user at home.

AMD Athlon XP 1.53 GHz, 40 GB HD, 736 MB RAM, 17" LCD - I bought the computer in 2001 and just upgraded it along the way. The HD is still the original... and about the only thing original to it, including the case.

I'm hoping to get a new computer next year or so.
