Ok, im starting to make flash animations and i know the basics, my drawing skill is over average but actionscript knowlege= low.

I use flash 7.

some things i dont understand, if you can help would be greatfull.

1, what are onion skins? how do these relate to frames and layers?
2, how do you put music in an animation?

1. The term onion-skin comes from an old sketching practice where they took an actual skin from an onion and traced a pattern on it. This onion skin was translucent, which means the artist could see through it enough to see the design underneath.

So, onion skinning is basically a layer that has its opacity reduced to 50% or other percentages. It helps artists that are actually using the mouse to draw.

I can't help you with #2 or #3 as I don't use flash.

Ah thankyou for the info, this will help me a lot when i use flash thanks. +rep added. i knew it was related to the layers in flash and now i understand what it does.

if you click it, it makes you see what you have previously drawn on the screen. say if i have done 5 slides with a stick figure moving across the screen. it will show the stick figure in slide 4 as about 80% translucent, slide 3 about 50% and 4 as about 10%.

thanks heaps! i now understand it! woohoo! 1 down, 2 to go.
