I just spent about 45 minutes on the phone with knology.com support (my isp) because for the last 2 months my internet has been about as reliable as myspace.com. My internet goes up and down atleast 10 times a day and sometimes stays down for as long as 3 hours before coming back up.
Well today at 5PM knology technicians come out to my house for the 4th time in two weeks to replace everything they can replace regarding the internet. They ran a DIRECT line from the box on the telephone pole to my cable modem. The replaced the TAP box among a few other things. Previous to this they have already replaced the cable modem.
So they get done and leave and not 15 MINUTES after they leave my internet goes DOWN
So I call Knology support. The first person I get does the back stuff, pings the cable modem and gets no response. I tell him everything I told you about how many times they have come out and they have fixed everything they can on their end before it becomes a "maintenance" issue. After going back and forth he gives me a case number and transfers me to the "service" department. I'm like ok... we are getting somewhere... so he transfers me to this department... FOR CABLE AND PHONE not internet.
In the time that I get transfered my internet comes back up. I'm like DAMNIT! cause I know that as long as it is up they aren't going to do anything but tell me to call back when it is down so that they can indeed confirm to me that my internet is down.
So I wait on hold another 5 or so minutes and get sent BACK to the SAME place I was before but this time I get a new guy. By this time I am getting aggrevated and I tell him what just happened, my internet is crap an I am quite unhappy with the service I have received. So he begins to tell me everything looks good now. I tell him not 15 minutes ago I was talking to another support person who pinged my cable modem and saw a 100% packet loss. He told me that it was my router.
I point blank asked him if it was the router could he ping the modem successfully and he said YES I told him then it IS NOT THE DAMN Router because the guy I was on the phone with before me COULD NOT PING THE CABLE MODEM. He then told me point blank he could not go off of what the guy said before me and that he had to go off what was happening now and then proceeded to tell me the only thing it could be was the router. At this point I'm so pissed off I told him I was going to call back the next time my internet went down and he better damn well hope I don't get him again. So I just hung up on him and now I am sitting here waiting in anticipation for my internet to go back down.
I am so sick of this it is insane. The only other ISP provider I can get is Mediacom and they are no better. If I could get comcast I would have been there in a heartbeat.
