1000 member mark, congratulate me :)
I inherited a struggling forum site--Clown Forum, a community for clowns--several months ago, and have been slowly revamping it. When I took over it had 700 mostly inactive members, an awful gray template, (yes, GRAY on a clown site!) was crawling along on phpnuke, and the previous owner had just managed to lose twenty days worth of posts. Days were going by without any posts and even one of the most active members was publicly thinking about leaving.

I converted it back to plain old phpbb and began working on sprucing it up bit by bit. I restored the Coppermine gallery and added FlashChat. I got a great artist to do a logo and avatars for me, and bought some colorful balloon graphics on iStockPhoto to make the navigation. It's still not quite where I want it but I can see my efforts paying off already... yesterday the site got its thousandth member (and that's after I remove all spammers that sign up, LOL). I'd still like to see more activity but at least I don't log on to find no new posts anymore, so I'm happy
