Paypal Alternative

Does anyone know of a good alternative form of payment, besides PayPal. I want to be able to accept credit cards. I know with a business account you can, I already have one.

I have talk to a couple of members who “don’t trust” Paypal. I personally have never had any problems. I will be adding a monthly column and looking for a new payment alternative. I would probably do Paypal and one other.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I would stay away from stormpay if I were you. I ran a successful web business and of all transactions conducted, two were stormpay, and both instances stormpay removed the funds from my account with no explaination, and no response from thier support. As for other means:

2Checkout.com : internet merchant account for businessesInstant credit card processing services accounts for merchants with internet businesses. Only $ 49 Set Up Plus Transaction Costs.

Card Services International: I inquired with this company and the rates are dependent of a few individual factors. Inquire at thier site for rates and setup costs (Setup i believe is free at this time)

CCBill: There are no setup fees. Transaction fees vary depending on the volume of sales in each accounting period. According to their website, "these fees are never more than 13.5% of revenues charged during this one-week period for CWIE hosting clients and 14.5% for non-hosting clients".

CCNow: This is only for people who ship tangible, physical products. There is no setup fee, and they charge 9% per transaction except in the November and December where the fees are 8% per transaction.

Clickbank: There is a one time setup fee (US$49.95) and a transaction fee of US$1 plus 7.5% of sale price. There are no other monthly fees. This is only for people who sell services or deliver products over the internet (not for those who need to ship physical products).

Digibuy: This service is intended for software authors only. They charge 13.9% per transaction. I'm not sure if there are any other charges.

IBill: This is a very expensive merchant. They charge 15% of each transaction or lesser if you sell US$10,000 or above. It is a big and (I think) reputable company, so if you are willing to part with such a huge margin of your earnings, you might also want to check them out.

Kagi: There are no setup or monthly fees with this merchant. Kagi "charges 6.5% up to a maximum of [US]$3.00... plus 3.5% plus [US]$0.50 for processing costs".

ProPay: A new competitor to PayPal (see elsewhere on this page) that currently only caters to US residents. You have to pay a $35 fee to sign up, but there are no monthly charges.

RegNow: Designed for software authors to sell their ware, this merchant deducts 20% of your sale price with a minimum of US$2.00 for their commission. There are also other charges for sales generated by your affiliates, etc.

Share-It: This service is for shareware authors. They charge US$2.95 plus 4% per order, and US$1.95 plus 4% for the 1000th order of the month and above. There are also charges for mailing you your cheque in some instances.

The newest alternative from a reputable company is http://checkout.google.com it's only available for US residents for now (at least for sellers), but it could be a big force soon and a lot of people seem to trust google.

Oh, YES! Do it Google!

I hate PayPal...and I know that Google has the power/resources/reputation to take them over...Have you signed up for Google Checkout? I haven't yet, but will later just to check things out - is it just like PayPal where you can send and receive money using either current balance or your credit card?

Google Checkout is in no way a competitior to PayPal, it's only for letting people pay you, no money transfer deposit/withdraw etc

I'm sure it's not now, and I dont expect it to be right now...but if you are familiar with Gmail and Google Earth, you'll know that Google is more than capable of creating a great system - they are by far the most versatile organization I've ever seen.

I am still looking over my options. I heard about Google's a couple of weeks ago, but as bdude states, it's only for letting people pay you and no withdrawls.
