I don't think the name is offensive and I am a big guy. I still think your forum idea is a good one. I'd even be willing to help you out if you so desired.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I just want to focus on community and content, and then the little stuff, like welcome headers, lol. They are giving me a pain!

One of the talk radio stations I listen to had a discussion today about people being too upset when someone calls them what they are. They were saying that doctors (specifically) should be able to tell their patients that they are fat without having to be politically correct about it. As for your site David, I think the name fits just fine. As you said, people need to get over the harsh reality that they are "wide" and I'm sure if they are a part of your community, they should have already realized that.

And just to clarify, I am also of the larger persuasion.

This is true, and is the first step to realizing you have a problem. I think David site could provide a lot of support and encouragement to overweight people.

My take... if people talk about my smoking, I point out their flaws (weight, sense of style, etc. etc.).

I was overwight a few years ago.

Now I got over it and I'm glad, although I'm starting to pick up a few pounds again, I should exercise a bit daily, I think...

To stay on the topic, yes, I think a doctor should be able to tell a people that he / she needs to lose weight if they want a better health. They're here for that reason, helping people.

[I split the thread in two, the other one was for my logo, this one about my topic]

Well, thanks for your feedback guys. I can't believe a doctor can't be candid to his patients.

IMPAQ, I don't get how your posts relates to being PC or accepting your buldges.

I guess my question to the folks that are saying they are overweight themselves is what do you really consider overweight? Are you talking 50-75lbs? Because if you are than I have to laugh. As of last october I weighed in @ 444lbs being only 5'11". I knew I was fat. I would even tell ppl I was, but it is different having to deal with it every day on your body and someone putting it in your face. I have been to many communities about weight issues. Infact I had planned to start a support site for ppl that are over weight, but I never had time. Some of the sites I visited were called things like thinner times and things of that nature. When it comes to things like this it is better to portray the positive outlook than the negative. That being said I believe the idea behind RM's site is a good one. I just don't know that a topic with such a negative meaning is what folks would look for.

I'm not trying to be rude. I'm sorry if it comes off that way. I'm just going to leave this subject alone I spose.
