Microsoft, Yahoo IM users can now chat online
Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc. will let users of their instant messaging networks talk to each other, beginning with a limited test.

In the beta phase, users who have the latest version of Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger will be able to chat with each other online, see whether another user is online, add contacts from each service, and share emoticons -- those facial expressions created by keystrokes or small images.

You could do this with a program called Trillian.

I used yahoo a lot, but am now on MSN. I detest AIM. *cough*
