Desktop Earth

Has anybody else ever heard of this? It looks really cool...I've only been using it for 5 minutes or so, so I can't comment on how well it works, but I figured I'd go ahead and post anyways

Basically...you install the thing and run it...it will automatically set your desktop background to a current snapshot of the earth via satellite...you can specify whether you want cloud cover, lights, etc. It will automatically update the snapshot at whatever interval you'd like. Looks pretty cool, I'm hoping it works

Get it here

I've attached a screenshot so that you can see what mine looks like

Obviously there's no linux version, but it looks neat, and when I feel the need to go in to windows I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the link Ryan

Yeah, that's because nobody uses Linux on their home PC

This is too funny...I'm sitting here staring at my desktop and I can see the darkness slowly moving left...now it's about to the point where I'm in the dead center of it. I think to myself...earlier this year I was known to stay up until 3-4am, and then I thought about what it would be like to look at the satellite view at that time and how strange it would seem to go to bed when the sunlight is about to hit my house

That said, I'm gonna call it a night here soon...I can see that darkness is quickly fading
