Hi. I go by the name Vyoma on the Internet. I have been around the internet for quite some time and have been moving from one community to another. There are a lot of things about me that would go into a introduction, but I think I would better put a constraint on the forum-related information about me.

How I got introduced to forums? Well, I was meddling with some online role-playing games and literature in that term had a charm in my eyes. I happened to join a great role-playing community, which had a modus operand as play-by-post. Soon, I learned the etiquette of the forum.

It was not long before I created a universe (in terms of RPG) and had a forum up and running at InvisionFree (now ZetaBorads) – on a retrospect I know that had been a hasty move. I made a lot of mistakes in terms of marketing the forum, though I did learn the ropes of being an admin – most of it the hard way. It went on for about more than a year, and then I put it down. I shut the forum down, but kept it alive as a reminder to myself, on the mistakes I have done.

Now, I am working on it again, and I have a fair idea of what all is required to keep a community engaged. I happened to come by this forum and I joined it - it never harms to know more.

Hmmm. That was fast. I am just contemplating here on this. I just posted this few hours back and I already have a reply to my post. That really would be one of the cause for me to stick around here.

But for that to happen at my forums, I would require to be at the forum 24/7 which is impossible for me to do 'cause of my day job. Once the forum has enough members, I think they would be there to welcome new members, but how do I get to that critical mass of members?

Advertising? I think I should start to look into that too - cause I did not focus on it the last time.

I have two sets of people in my mind with respect to getting members to my soon-to-be-launched roleplaying forum:
- Those who already have RPing exprience, and want a new world to RP in.
- Those who do not even know what RPing is all about.

I would like your views on this, but I think I would better make a thread for it seperately in the appropriate section.

Welcome to AF. My name is David. I ran a board on IF/ZB myself. We had an RPG in it too, but nobody knew how to run one, so there were many tangents and it fell apart after a month.

Then I, or someone else, would restart it, but history repeated itself.

I'm not sure how a RPG forum is differnet from a fan forum, or a help forum. But if there are no discernable differences, may I suggest browsing AF from top to bottom.

We have a lot of posts on here, so perhaps a SEARCH can be made if you have general questions. If you have specific questions, feel free to post them. We don't bite, at least most of us don't anyhow!

In case you need it, the bathroom is located at the far end of the room, near the Zelda & FF video games. Drinks at the bar are free, but only from 5pm to the wee-wee hours of the night.
