| Title: Lurker Join Date: Jan 2007 Posts: 2 ![]() | Hello All!! Just getting started with a web site revamp project for our local Ham Radio Club. I've been a vBulletin user -- not an Admin -- on another Ham Radio Software site where the Admins migrated to vBulletin from phpBB many months ago. vBulletin if far more robust than phpBB and we've been enjoying it greatly. Now that I'm heading up a site revamp, there are loads of questions I've got to find answers for. I hope I'll discover those answers here with your help. ![]() One of our club members had suggested we use Joomla CMS. Although it is very capable it doesn't include a Forums package nor does it provide any elegant GUI for the editing of Templates, database creation, field and record creation nor user entry screens. The latter are apparently derived from the Templates. What I'm hoping to learn here is whether the vBulletin or vBadvanced CMPS can handle defining additional user data fields via the Admin CP for things like Callsign, License Class, and several other fields. Hopefully these fields can be included in the required steps a new user must go through during registration. Also I'll need to know if the Membership List information can be hidden from all but registered members. The default seems to be otherwise. I have many more issues which require answers, but those will come later. In the meantime, I'll try and find where I can peruse vBulletin's Admin CP. Greetings to all! | ||||

This is called Joomlaboard and you can find more information on it here You can set up custom fields for vB that you can display wherever you'd like in the templates and you can choose whether or not to force new users to complete them on registration...I'm not sure how these fields work with vBadvanced, but I can only assume that everything transfers over there as well. Regarding the memberlist...You would think that you'd be able to deny access to guests but allow members...but I actually don't know of this option. It might can be done as-is, but if not, it could be done with a fairly simple code edit. Anywho...like the guys have said...it's best if you separate your questions and ask them in their own respective forums, because it's easier for people to focus on one question at a time and people tend to be in "support mode" in other forums, where we're just in "welcome mode" in this forum ![]() Enjoy your stay here at AF and let us know if you need anything!
