Gemma, a few simple suggestions. You can't see much as an unregistered user. I thought I could do a quick register just to check stuff out and then waited for the confirm email and then to be approved as a member. I think that is what kept me from returning sooner. It just took a lot of steps to get going.

I hope you don't think I'm picking on you and it helps get those members posting.

I'll be back to help ya.

I've had it kept private cus theres members and staff who have got pix off there children and family on there. Also some people don't check there e-mails, I was talking to a member be for and I asked when they were coming back and they said they were waiting for the confirmation e mail, but when I told them that I activated there account the day they registered they checked there mail then. So half off them don't even bother checking there e- mails. We have sent out news letters and reminders and still half off them haven't come back. As soon as I've clicked on the link to activate your account your officially a member.

Thanx for your help very much appreciated

On my site when someone first registers, they are considered just a "registered member" and literally only have access to certain boards, but once they get to 21 posts they are considered a "Junior Member" and will have access to even more on the site; like the arcade, blogs, plaza, chat room, etc.

Maybe you could do something like this so guests and newly registered members aren't able to view the private information and images of the more established members. Just a thought...

I agree with Cori. You can create a new usergroup and then have a promotion of types set up. It has been a while since I worked with phpBB so I can't give instructions but I know you can find tutorials and scripts easy.
