| Title: Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Posts: 126 Location: Pennslyvania ![]() ![]() | Initial Impression The forums are the typical "car website colors". It's not bad though, I like those colors and they really set the mood well for your forums topic. I also noticed no formal guest welcome message. Organization and Feel Registration & Guest Welcome First of all, there is no guest welcome message. I would suggest to think of every one of your lurkers as a complete moron. Get a guest message up, tell them what's going on in your forum, features that set this community different than the rest, and give them a taste of your "forum culture" (make sure they know that normal registration is "free"). I saw the "Register Now!" button fairly well and understood what it meant, but if I were not familar with this forum software, I may think this is a scam website or even think I have to pay to join. While writing your guest welcome message, try to read it outloud once you're finished too, as I've seen many forums that have guest welcome messages FULL of idioms. As for registration: I decided to register, I wanted to see how it was (alot seemed customized). First thing I noticed while typing in my info was the "Content Link" hover-ads. The registration page should be ad-free. I put my non-computer-savvy hat and found that I didn't want to register, as those type of links on the register page make me feel as though you're a "spammer". (I keep bringing up the spammer thing because it's the big thing to avoid getting nowadays, the new virus if you will). Registration was easy though, and I confirmed things and such easily. Forums I really don't have any problems here. There is a good number of forums, in which those forums are filled up well. One thing I did really like is that the "Introductions" forum is the first forum visible, that's a great idea and I think will contribute to the growth of your forum culture later in the game. Misc Notes One thing I did notice apon entering the website was the red navbar right below the logo. The "Advertise Here" link made me think those were paid links by advertisers, in which they are not. I think that instead making your homepage "MustangEvolution" as the title, "Home" would be more user friendly (and subsciquently MustangEvolution Forums could be just changed to Forums). Again, I'm trying to evaluate this as the average computer user, not a programmer and administrator. Also, I'm liking the very elaborote and professionally written Privacy Policy: a forum of your size needs one of them, and I'm glad you have one written out. ![]() Skin and Modifications It's not like your style is customized alot, but it is customized to the point where it really fits. The only real suggestions I have here are:
I could not find the rules. I went to User Support and Resources and found a sticky on rules. That sticky had a link which led to a dead area of the website: http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum-rules/ As for staff amount, the amount of staff seems like it's a good amount and exactly where it should be at for the size of your forum.
