This is a forum I made with my dad a month ago. It's kind of dead, but enjoy the forum anyway.
It's a forum where people try to be as weird as possible.

Well from a glance you forum doesn’t give me the impression that it is about being “Weird” as you put it as it is a rather uniformed style with a lot of normality about it that is seen all of the web, I would think about improving this somewhat to make the theme of your forum stand out more as at the moment in my eyes it just looks like something rather boring. A banner image is defiantly needed to improve for a start.I would work on your forums layout some more and get them restructured a little bit as I was really not sure what I was looking at with a couple of them and had to actually read the forum descriptions to find out what it was, something that I can’t remember doing on any forums in a long, long time.Another thing that you could possibly do is add a side column to the forum home and insert some images into it that have some relevance to your content to try and make it more attractive. Other than this I can not think too much what else you can do with this forum as I have no idea what kind of thing you could do with it.Good Luck with your forum if you can get it to take off you could hit a nice niche with your idea.

Initial Impression:
Opon opening the site, what I notice is the background. I myself an not really a fan of that sort of background, so I think that should be changed, to a solid color. Next, the welcome block. Good job there since you are running smf. When I first looked, I thought it was not SMF, and it does look fairly good to me.

Forum Software:
SMF IMO is not the best choice. I think it's just not features are integrated into SMF. I would reccomend Mybb if you need a free forum, and vBulletin for paid software,

Features/mods:
I think some mods need to be added. I rould reccomend the SMF Shop mod if you stay with SMF, MyBux for MyBB, and vBBux/vBPlaza for vBulletin.

Thank you for your suggestions. Only there's no shop mod for SMF 1.1.2 and I do NOT want to switch to MyBB because there's no converter. I'm also not getting a vBulletin license till my dad gets a job.

Hmm, I just noticed that it's not compatible with SMF 1.1.2. Only 1.1.1

As for MyBB, some converters will be comming out soon. I'm one of the beta testers and could convert it for you, but I don't think it's a good idea yet, as there are quite a few bugs with it. But once it's a final release, I think I'll be a good idea to switch. Also, MyBB seems quite secure now, they release patches only about every 2/3 months, and mostly bux fixes, nothing magor in security holes for the moment.

As you forum has only been open a month or so it's not going to busy but give it time and if you add lots of content I'm sure it will be a great success. I think it's a nice idea to set up a forum with your dad. I wish my dad was interested in doing something like that. On first impression I wasn't sure what your forum is about. What kind of thing are you planning on using the forum for? The design is neat but it might look more eye catching if you add a nice logo. There is a thread at AF where you can get these done for free. The 'My Picture' thread in the Photo Sharing forum caught me out as I was expecting to see a photo of you lol.
