My real rating would be 3.5 out of 5. You have a great design going on, with an excellent choice of color combinations. Your site is very pleasing to the eye, which encourages the user to explore your content. I however, have one gripe about your site. You, in my opinion, have way too much advertisements that severely hurt your design. Reduce the amount of advertisements, and place them in positions which don't hurt your content. If I were you, I would either take out the advertisements next to your login form, or between posts.

Ya I m agree with Jon. You have good design and unique contrast color combination but those ads are really eating away half home page and the looks. Please give attention to this and make the required changes.

Most of the feedback I've recieved is on the ad placement. Curious, are you talking about the ads when you go to the forum, or on the main page? I ask, because the ads that are integrated with the welcome box go away with signup...

I'll be tweaking the site this weekend, and taking some of this into account... I will say however I don't find the ads on the forum too bad... as for the homepage... I could probably tone that down a little... I didn't want to go the pop-up / pop-under route to monetize the site, so I went for volumn..

4 stars: good design and colours and lovely landing page ... I have a thing against the ads in the header section (forums) .. at least make them with a smaller banner, they are unpleasant. I need to see content, not ads

Other than that ... and some more icon customization need .. it's VERY nice. Congratulations

It's pretty funny that people bring up the ads on Monks... I've been to so many forums that have a similar setup, and do just fine. Asides from that welcome ad, there are no obtrusive ads on the forum IMO.

I'll consider removing that ad spot, however it is THE best performing ad spot on the entire forum.

I know what you mean. Once you register and the big welcome ad is gone it is no big deal. The peel away add is actually kind of cool and I don't see how anyone can have a problem with it being there.

And Mark, do you have a live demo or a full size screen shot of your "Pro Blue Style w/ tabbed Navigation & Sidebar" theme? I like what I see from the small screen shot provided on vB.org but I cannot really see it in full detail.

that ad is fine for 1 reason. your frontpage is so good and really grabs the user. they dont mind scrolling past that ad, and probably go to the forum to sign up anyway, so they only see it for a minute anyway.
