Hello everyone, I'm looking for some fresh, honest reviews about my site, www.compuforums.org, particularly on the skin. If you have any comments at all, negative or positive, let me have them and I can do something about it. But if you're going to say "This site is crap", then you might want to say why you think it's crap

Title: Forum Addict Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 1,338 Location: Illinois ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Initial Impression: My initial impression was that you've got the good start of a growing forum. It looks good for the most part, though a little dull and cluttered. With a few changes you could make it much better. Also, the forum stats (with the mod) look much better than in most other forums I've seen. Good job with that. Skin and Template: The skin itself is decent, but could use a little more custimzation. Currently my main problem with it is that the colors are to dull. They're not attractive and don't make the place look active. The gray is really what kills you, in my opinion. I personally preffer more narrow fixed forums, but that's just personal prefference. Also, at the top your guest welcome nav thing is slightly to large I think - if you could make it fit into the forum width, that'd make it look much better. Logo and Graphics: Decent graphics, though I think the forum posts ones are stock. Nothing wrong with that. As for the logo, it's okay. I think it'd be better if you put more space between the laptop and the text, and changed the text font. In addition to that, you need to put more space between the forum logo and the add on it's right. Forums: Good, wide range of forum topics. Perhaps too many forums for a starting site though; you might want to consider removing several. The descriptions could use a bit of work as well. Describe what you're talking about - fill it with keywords. Rules and FAQ: I could find neither rules for a FAQ list - simply a help page that has (default) answers about the how-to's of the forum. No rules. Work on that. Recommended Changes: 1) Make the skin more lively - less dull. 2) Graphic changes and welcome bar fit I mentioned above. 3) Create/make more visible some forum rules.

Title: Forum Addict Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 1,913 Location: Australia ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | First Impression: my first impression of your forum was that it looks like you work hard on it. the index buttons look nice but i thought the rest of the ksin didnt really match or attract me. Skin & Images: The skin, looked a bit plain to me, did'nt really have any great colors in it. The index buttons as i said looked really good. the rest of the forum buttons match your skin but im not really a fan of the skin, maybe you could get a new skin, atleast think about it as this could make a fresh start for your forums growth. im thinking, you may want to make a new banner for your forums. the current one isnt really eye catching and is a bit plain. Forums: If i were you i would try and merge a few forums together to bring it down in size and it will make it a lot more easier to read and get through the forums. this will also attract more members if its smaller and organised. once it grows, you can open up more forums. ![]() What i would do: Move a few forums together, too many for a starting forum then create more as it grows. -Find a new skin. -Create an Interesting banner for your forums. I hope these reviews help your forum a lot, Good luck with your forums Ashley.

I will be merging more, and merging sub forums into their parent forums. I'm still working on all of the suggestions, but the more I get the better the site will become.
