Week Old...

I'm a bit reluctant to post my new forum, but here goes...

http://www.myspacebullies.com/forums

It's just a place to report bullies that people encounter online and discuss the cyber bully issue - I see a lot of that as an admin and moderator. It's only a week old though so be kind in your suggestions. I think 60 members is fairly good for only a week, but I've never started my own forum before so I don't really know. About 35 come back each day so far.

I'm trying to figure out how to add more games to my V3 arcade for Vbulletin. I only have a few and already members are asking for more. Is there a place to go to pick out more games? Can flash games be added... I'm confused on this game stuff.

Not sure how to respond. One the one hand, it is a brilliant concept. On the other hand, you could be liable if its deemed slanderous. Honestly, it might be better to try and develope a community that is LIKE myspace but moderated to avoid the abuse which occurs there. That way, the bullying issue is nullified, and you can't be sued for slander.

If you want an idea of how to do what I mentioned, go to deadendsociety.net. They think (though IMO wrongly so) that they're a myspace alternative. Either way, the have alot of the same services. Try something like that.

If you need help modding, I can work with you on doing it.

Interesting concept and I too wish you well with your forum.

Have you got a legally drafted, disclaimer with your terms of service clearly written out and displayed? Otherwise I have to agree from a libel/slander point of view, this will leave you wide open for possible claims for damage. As the site owner you will be liable if any false messages/information/defamation of character(s) info is posted at your forum/site.

I don't ask to criticise, more so as I'm intrigued.

I'm not worried about being held libel since any site that does photoshopping or posts pics of ex girlfriends with a derogatory name on it would have been sued by now. Also, it's under an LLC and doesn't make any money so there is really nothing to sue. I don't think it could be said the site defames anyone since other people submit these quotes and we let the members/public vote and/or make up their own mind. We don't call them bullies ourselves. It's a place to nominate only. All the quotes are verified as being authentic and NOT changed before submission.

On the other hand you could be completely correct and I'll get a letter in the mail from a lawyer, once they get past the private registration. I can't see anything happening unless the court says I need to take down the site and I refuse to do so... which I wouldn't refuse, I'd just tweak it.

Either way, I will keep you informed on the happenings. Thanks for your thoughts, I look forward to hearing your feedback and any advice for improvement, although my concept will remain the same until I'm forced to do otherwise. Cyber bullying is a very real problem and since this site went public, the particular forum that these people frequent has been much improved. As the word gets out, it will be less and less 'cool' to shout vulgarities at forum visitors. At least, that is the hope.

Thanks so much for your offer Gprime. I appreciate that. I'm not really interested in making a MySpace clone. This site has a very real purpose to me - to call out bullies and let them know that what they do behind their anonymous name is not right nor cool. It's a statement and if it goes to court then it will only lend a stronger voice to the issue. This is a quest, if you will. A fight for the underdog.

I do want to install some games that Miner directed me to for Vbulletin. I'm not sure where to add them though... once I download a game onto my computer, how do I get it into the right folder in my server? This is for V3 Arcade.
