All four templates have their own custom banners and the same modifications, both coded by me and downloaded, implemented.

The forum is purposedly not focused on a particular subject, yet encompassing several "basic" subjects of discussion and debate. The forum is my hobby and a stand-alone, not meant to accompany a site or be professional.

I thought the same, when it loaded I was thinking VB or IPB, the look is outstanding.
You also have a very well described base going with the boards which is a very good thing, being descriptive is important to your members.

I also love the general idea, having many boards to discuss varied things on is great, but when you run a general discussion forum you also need to remember to focus your attention on all boards instead of particular ones.

A friend of mine ran a general forum for a lone time but it went inactive because he didn't know much about certain subjects he based some of his boards on, and therefore couldn't keep his members interested long.

On the whole I think you've done extremely well, it's basic, clean and organized, which get's my vote every time.

Hi.
I like it. The skin is fresh, although the grey is abit washy - perhaps a 'sharper' colour/gray?

The header is ok, but i feel this could be improved upon. It doesn't really express the forums theme to me and i don't know why but it gives me the impression it's a religion based theme.

I feel the literature forum would be more suited in the entertainment catagory.

Nice observation. Perhaps I'll try out some 'sharper' grays.

Improved upon you had several means in mind, or something in particular, such as, say, the visible horizontal length? And what exactly do you mean by theme? Do you mean the template or what the forum has to do with? If it's the latter, and being that I intentionally set up my forum to encompass several subjects but not center on any, the style of the logo is solely for aesthetic purpose, not for symbolism. I doubt very many people who visit my forum would have anything but a vague inkling that it's supposedly symbolism, if even that.
The logo features a symbol of Norse religion/mythology, I believe.

I thought about that, but I believe it's better suited for the category it's in now. By "Electric", I'm referring to the modern, web-connected world, and by "Renaissance", I'm making a reference to the period in history when humanity rose from the Dark Ages and literature became an important part of life, as people took in new ideas, philosophies, etc. The forums in that category are all related in the sense that they have to do with books, art, debate, and creating written works -- aspects that those of the Enlightenment Age thrived on to make it unique from the previous age, though being now communicated through the Web.
