Ok, well, it's not finished but I think it's a good start.

I would like your opinion about it.

Please, don't mind the crappy smilies, I have to edit them ;p

Well, let's hope that Adam isn't still working on this review

So, here we go! (only reviewing the forums)

Initial Impression
Not bad initial impression...dark forums work well with Sci-Fi...although the blue does seem out of place. I would have also like to have seen some sort of spaceship or something . Forums do seem a bit empty to me, and there's nothing flashy that is enticing me to register.

Organization and Feel
Whelp, the forums do seem a bit empty, and this is due to the number of them (one of them is completely empty! )...While your forums are still relatively new, it is best to start small and expand from there. You might be surprised at how much busier your forums will look if you consolidate some of those forums. I definitely think the first category could use some rearranging...it seems strange to me that you have a rules/guidelines forum, an announcements forum, an intro forum, and a suggestions forum - all separate. You should be able to combine all of those into 2 forums. You should also spice up that guest welcome message some. After reading it, I'm not more excited about registering than I was before I read it. You really need to convince your guests that they should register. What's your major selling point? Try to put something in there other than just forums and posts...perhaps some book or movie reviews?

Skin and Modifications
As I've already said, I do like the dark skin, as I think it works well. However, the logo, the blue text, and the forum icons stand out to me. The logo is not as flashy as I would prefer, and the forum icons are...just black squares (or black squares with a line through them). I'm not sure what to do with the blue text. I'm afraid that if you make it gray, the forums will be very dull. Usually white text on a dark background is an eyesore. Maybe change it to a green? No favicon ...nobody has a favicon these days, get one! Set yourself apart. I don't see any major modifications...the only mod I can pick out is the adsense after every first post.

Guidelines and Staff
Your rules were definitely easy to find...although the name of the section that they are in doesn't seem right - "Welcome, guest!". Two of the three threads in there really only apply to members. The rules are very clear cut, although where is this contest that you mention in the rules?

Recommended Changes
  • Consolidate forums (particularly those in the first category)
  • Enhance the welcome message
  • Add something unique or of value to the forums, other than regular posts
  • Liven up the logo and forum icons
  • Favicon
  • Reconsider the name of the "Welcome, guest!" forum
  • Explain the contest better

I pretty much agree with Ryan, but I have a personal suggestion: I think that a space-theme would look really good for a sci-fi site (have like stars in the background, there are tons of these).
