Let's keep it clean, guys.

Interesting. That's all I have to say.

I think I'll stick with SMF for now though.

Oh yes, and I have found some of my code inside Invision Power Board but they removed it before I could take measures.

Get real people ... All sources are on his blog and one of his friend's forum. If I start a thread on my forum that vBulletin is ripping me would you believe it? If a friend of mine says that too, does that make it true?

Those who have the brains to think for themselves, are already doing it. Those who believe in the truthfulness of a RSS feed ... check Digg or Slashdot and you'll find another article about the death of George Bush or the invasion of Sweden. Stand from the crowd and think for yourself.

I rest my case.

Apologies in advance for the negativity in this post.

I was interested in xenobb, but with the comments here, and the comments on the linked blog entry, I'm sensing a significant amount of animosity from the developers, so I'll pass.

Osgiliath, you need to lighten up. Nobody's attacking you in here, but you're responses to everybody in here are unnecessarily mean. We're all friends here, and while we might not always agree, this is a solid community, and we're not down with bickering.

As I have said before, I'm really sorry if my comments/remarks/whatever disturbed anybody; but I'm really tired of the endless discussion of XennoBB versus UseBB and XennoBB versus MyBB. Everyone is free to choose whatever software they find appropriate for themselves.

I don't like someone to rub in my face that a project with a lifespan of more than 4 years (like MyBB) consumes 25Gb of bandwith per month. Our project is online for 7 months and consumes 12Gb per month? So what? Does anybody care about that?

Just what I thought.

PS. Hopefully, nobody here will be upset on me for my harsh remarks, but some people just get the "best" out of me. Don't worry, it's not about anyone here . Also, let me take this opportunity to congratulate the administrators, moderators and last, but not least, the users of this fine community. Keep up the good work.

If you're that concerned with comparisons to other forums, you should probably pull yours off the market. It's a fact of life, people are going to compare your forum against others... CONSTANTLY, and in LOTS OF PLACES. There are constant battles between VB, IPB and phpBB on this forum, just about every other day, and nobody's feelings get hurt.

I don't understand where you feel the need to get defensive about a comparison with a comparable product. Just as people compare Ford to Chevy, and Pepsi to Coke, you're going to be compared to your peers all the time.

You didn't understand me, but it's fine. I don't have anything against somebody comparing my forum with another one, I suggested people to use the best forum that they need, I suggested vBulletiin, phpBB or SMF and I have nothing agains the competition.

I have a problem with "developers" that put lies on their blog. I have a problem with people that claim they know the absolute truth, and by this axioma, their product is the best and the competition's product is bad, buggy, unsecure, a ripoff, etc. That's my problem.

Chris Boulton has a problem with me? wants to sue me? Fine, but he better have a serious reason for it, not "you had code from MyBB in your sourcecode". Like I said, I can claim IPB had been using my code and they removed it before I could take any measures.

It's a s##tty thing to do and this is no "competition". And I'm really sick of it. Once again, feel free to use whatever forum you want. I don't make any money out of my project, I don't beg for Paypal donations or have 100 AdSense blocks on my forum, but I demand a little respect for that. Simple as that.

As I have said before, this is a discussion that leads to no result, since nobody here had any "problems" with me personally, or any members of my team. The people involved hide in the shade of their "well organized and important" forum, from where they launch attacks.

So, if it's okey for everybody, I say the discussion should end here.

First of all, that is 25gb of DOWNLOADS in this month - actual site and forum traffic is much higher than that.

MyBB onto XMB,
Please do not spread lies. We've been through this before. MyBB has 100% nothing to do with XMB.

Oh, these aren't lies and you quite clearly know that. You play the denial game and the innocent victim in all of this when if you actually stopped taking other peoples work and claiming it as your own then there would be no problem.

I've received the go ahead from our lawyer to attach the scripts in question so people can make their minds up for themselves.

For those even more curious, XennoCMS is a rip off of the Puntal portal http://www.punbb.fr/blog/2006/09/19/...tion-de-la-gpl (french).

I'll state this once again: I have no problem with any other board including those which are a lot more successful than MyBB. Your board is the only one I have a problem with because you're cheating & infringing copyright with it. I do not care if you think it is more successful than MyBB or anything else.
